Beef Cattle Breeding

The total beef herd of EkoNiva-APK is 6,016 head, including 2,925 head of breeding herd (as per the 1st April, 2019). The company is a breeding reproducer of Hereford cattle. Besides, the farming operations of EkoNiva raise Aberdeen-Angus cattle and perform cross-breeding of Aberdeen-Angus bulls with cows of Simmental, Charolais and Hereford breeds and low-yielding dairy cows.

Beef production

The strategy of EkoNiva-APK implies feeding male calves until they reach 240 kg for further sale to specialised feedlots. The company employs low-cost grazing technologies and keeps beef cattle on natural pastures.

Currently, EkoNiva has approximately 3,200 head of beef breeding herd, thereof 1,000 Aberdeen-Angus cows and approx. 400 Hereford cows are kept in Novosibirsk; 280 beef cows, are kept in Voronezh oblast; 500 Charolais cows and crossbreeds — in Kaluga oblast, and 930 head of breeding herd — in Orenburg oblast.
