EkoNiva Group, Russia's largest dairy holding, plans to carry out an investment project for the construction of a dairy farm in Moscow oblast. At St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Stefan Dürr, EkoNiva Group President, has signed a corresponding cooperation agreement with the head of the region Andrey Vorobyov.

EkoNiva plans to build its second farm in Moscow oblast

The new farm will be designed for 3,550 cows and comprise young stock housing sites for 5,100 head. The estimated allocated funds total about 4.4 billion rubles. The project is to be implemented in Stupino city district, where the company already runs several enterprises.

EkoNiva’s activities in Moscow oblast date back to 2018. The local enterprise Stupinskaya Niva specialises in raw milk production, managing Bortnikovo dairy, which produces 126 tonnes of milk in bulk per day. The project investments amounted to 4.1 billion rubles. Currently, over 8,000 animals are housed here, including more than 3,800 dairy cows. The farm’s raw milk is supplied to the leading processing enterprises of Moscow oblast.

Stupinskaya Niva also controls 15,000 hectares of farmland, where wheat, perennial grasses, alfalfa and maize are grown for silage, fodder and grain. The total number of the staff exceeds 300 people, including over 150 employees working at the dairy.

‘EkoNiva has been successfully operating in Moscow oblast for a long time. The new project in Stupino will be its second farm in the region. The first one, Bortnikovo, was launched in 2023, and the decision about its construction was also reached at the Forum. Over 42,500 tonnes of milk was produced there last year. We are happy that our long-standing, reliable partners are willing to expand their business in Moscow oblast’, says the Governor Andrey Vorobyov.

‘Bortnikovo farm makes a worthy contribution both to the development of EkoNiva Group's activities and boosting of milk production in Moscow oblast, providing its residents with natural dairy. Featuring its own tour project, it is one of the few agritourism facilities in the region. Its visitors, have a unique opportunity to see real calves and cows and find out where the milk they buy in shops comes from. We are very pleased with our work in the region and plan to further strengthen our foothold, including through the support of the government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Moscow oblast’, points out Stefan Dürr, EkoNiva Group President.
